Repair Projects
In addition to major renovations and new construction, Baker Construction Group is a specialist in major building repairs. Along with our qualified subcontractors we possess many years of experience and technical expertise in these and other areas:
- structural issues
- fire and water damage
- building envelope issues (roofing, masonry, siding, stucco)
- moisture prevention and remediation
- ground water management
- hazardous materials such asbestos, lead, and buried tanks
On numerous projects we have performed major surgeries such as repairing and replacing structural steel, rebuilding foundations, digging out and lowering basement floors, replacing windows and doors, rebuilding leaking roofs and masonry walls, managing below-grade groundwater including sophisticated pump systems and anti-microbial wall liners.

We were called in to replace a collapsed bedroom ceiling and figure out why it had collapsed. We soon discovered that there had been years of water infiltration causing rot, mold and mildew in the roof above. Worse yet, the root cause of the water infiltration was the fact that the original builder had left out a steel support beam, causing this upper level wall and patio door to sink into the roof deck, creating the opening for water to enter the building. We worked with our structural engineer to design a retrofit and restored the interior and exterior to their original design.
We have worked on several projects to repair and remodel after fire, water and smoke damage. This usually includes special efforts to encapsulate materials that were not damaged but absorbed the smoky odors
Many remodeling projects include basement repairs and remodeling. The objectives may be simply to gain living space, to stop water infiltration, or to repair substandard structural beams and columns. This project included all of those, and also included digging out to lower the floor resulting in higher ceilings, replacing beams and columns, and rebuilding crumbling foundation walls. The homeowners ended up with a bright home office, a “man cave,” a finished bathroom, updated heating/cooling systems and plenty of storage space.
